Wendy LaGreen Psy.D.
Dean/Visual Arts Instructor
Fall 2019 marks Dr. LaGreen’s 30th year teaching at Emerson. Over these years her role at the school has expanded from art to administrative responsibility as Dean, but she still remains firmly committed to the arts in her teaching. In addition she is school counselor for all Emerson students.
Dr. LaGreen attended Pepperdine University as well as Chapman University where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. At California State University, Fullerton, she received a Masters degree in art and continued her studies at the American Behavioral Institute where she earned her Doctorate in Psychotherapy. Before coming to Emerson she was a studio artist, exhibiting and selling works all over the U.S. and teaching art workshops for both adults and children from Irvine to Niagara Falls! Outside of Emerson, she continues her work as a working artist, exhibiting works in several shows each year.
"Teaching understanding of ourselves through art and psychology is a true passion of mine. I really enjoy watching art films and having a great discussion afterwards with friends. Our new programs at Emerson Choice Academy, will leave plenty of time to have lively discussions, and create projects that provoke inquiry and discussion. Critical thinking is the key to discovery and understanding ourselves, and our culture. Learning to fully use all of our senses makes life so exciting and meaningful. If students can look past the surface and search for the deeper underlying messages they will find a richness and beauty in every experience."
